Speaking of our Adventure Experts, read on to learn a little more about them:
Barbara Bouschlicher from the Midwest
Shipping/Receiving, Transition Goods Buyer, and Costume Diva
Barb is a familiar face at The Ashland Outdoor Store, having worked here off and on over several years. Barb loves to fly fish and bike -- in fact her latest adventure was biking with her dad on the White Rim Trail in Canyonlands National Park. But what Barb is best known for is her creative costume-making. Just ask her how many awards she's won around town!
Charles Gehr from Richmond, VA
Sales Associate and Hat Fanatic
Last count Charles had 20 hats -- beanies, visors, fedoras, ballcaps, cowboy hats, you name it. But hats aren't his only passion. Charles also loves fly fishing, climbing, long-boarding, cross country skiing, reading, and woodworking. His latest adventure was backpacking with his wife, Chrissy, along the south fork of the Smith River.
Jon Hazlett from The Dalles, OR
Fly Shop Manager, Fishing Guide
There's no better place than Oregon for Jon to do the two things he loves most -- hunting and fly fishing. Jon's most recent adventure (besides recently becoming betrothed to Clea!) was an elk hunting trip in the Blue Mountains in Eastern Oregon. Jon shot three 5-point elk which he then had to pack out 2000 vertical feet. Now that's dedication to the sport!
Bryant Helgeland from Mequon, WI
Assistant Hardgoods Buyer and General Outdoorsy Guy
And when we say Outdoorsy Guy we really mean it. Bryant rock climbs, snowboards, fly fishes, backpacks, tele skis, kayaks...hmm, maybe it would be shorter to list what he doesn't do. Then again, he's got to keep up with the rest of the crew at The Ashland Outdoor Store. Bryant was a guide for six years at Camp Minikani in Wisconson, and his favorite adventure was a 30-day NOLS course in Patagonia in extreme wet weather (yikes!).
Kelly "Big Air" Miller from Portland, OR
Clothing/Footwear Buyer and Floor Supervisor
How did Kelly earn her nickname? By winning the "Big Air" contest at the 2003 Mt. Ashland Tele-Lizard ski race! She also loves backcountry skiing, volleyball, backpacking, hot springing, and trail running, and competes in running races year-round. Kelly's favorite adventure was three months of skiing and traveling throughout Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Ireland. This woman loves to get out and about!
Steve Rowe from Cincinnati, OH
Owner and all-around Sensitive Guy
What can we say about our fearless leader...besides the fact that he's quite the Renaissance Man! Winter steelheading on the northern Oregon coast by day, hot-tubbing and fine wine by night...doesn't get much better than that, does it? Although Steve has admitted he spends way too much time with steelhead, we know his favorite companions are his two children, Allison and Chris, who both attend Ashland High School.
Diana Thompson from Portland, OR
Sales Associate and Extreme Athlete
The fact that Diana's most recent adventure was competing in the Seagate 24-hour adventure race near Monterey, California says it all. Diana also loves horseback riding, biking, hiking, and skiing. And oh, by the way, need a private flight instructor? She's all that, too!
Noah Treiger from Ashland, OR
Sales Associate and Linguist Extraordinaire
Parlez-vous francais? Sprechen Sie Deutsches? Habla espanol? If you do, talk to Noah! He spent two years growing up in Switzerland and speaks five languages fluently. Noah also loves to fly fish and hike, and his favorite adventure was a three-week backpacking trip through the Sierras.
Cathy Tronquet from Portland, OR
Sales Associate and Sign Language Expert
One thing is for sure -- Cathy loves being around water! Preferably with either a fly rod or a rowing oar in hand. Cathy's favorite adventures include fly fishing around the world, from New Zealand to Argentina to the Bahamas, and rowing the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston. It's never "weigh enough" for this woman!
