Inner Guide Expedtions Summer Trips

Would you like to add meaningful adventure and healthy challenge into your kid’s summer? Inner Guide Expeditions (with Tom Shelstad) is now taking registrations for their summer backpacking expeditions. Programs are available for students entering 7th grade and up.

Trips this summer include:

June 18th-21st:
What: Wilderness Backpacking in the Trinity Alps/Marble Mountains for youth entering 7th and 8th grade.
Cost: $347

July 15th-24th:
What: Wilderness Backpacking in the Northern Cascades of Washington for teens entering 9th - 12th grade.
Cost: $1197

August 11th-18th:
What: Wilderness Backpacking in the Trinity Alps/Marble Mountains for teens entering 8th and 9th grade.
Cost: $1097

Hi folks,

My wife and I are section hiking the PCT and this year we are starting at Siskiyou Summit and going to Willamette Pass. We are thinking of riding the bus from Eugene to Ashland but would then need transportation to the PCT trailhead at Siskiyou Summit. Are you aware of anyone in Ashland that provides this service? We're planning on starting around Aug 16th.

We can walk it if we have to but pavement isn't my preferred way to start a hike.....

Will gladly chip in for the gas.

The PCT is a long trail that is really rough on gear. Nothing is more frustrating than coming off of the trail with a list of gear you need only to realize that the local store is out of half of it!

This is why we at the Ashland Outdoor Store want to invite you to send us your list. Just send us a list of what you want to pick up when passing through Southern Oregon and we will do our best to have it in stock and set aside for you.

16th Annual Screamin' Tele Lizard Classic

Held at the Mt. Ashland Ski Area, this is a fun telemark ski race for all ages and skill levels. Proceeds from this even benefit the Special Olympics. There is a costume telemark fun race and a giant slalom with a tele twist!

Where: Mt. Ashland
Cost: Race fee of $20 for pre-registration and $25 for day of race registration.

Rattlesnake Adopt a Crag Day

The Access Fund is holding an Adopt a Crag Day for the Rattlesnake climbing area.

When: Feb 25th, 2012 @ 9am

There is a group of volunteers meeting at the parking lot of McNeal Pavilion at 7:30am if anyone wants to carpool.

The focus of the day will be cleaning up garbage and repairing a recently damaged section of trail.

Sponsored by The Oregon Nordic Club, Diamond Lake Resort, and Rogue Ski Shop, the 26th Annual John Day Memorial Citizen's Cross Country Ski Race & Fun-ski will be held Sunday, Feb 19th at Diamond Lake Resort.

Quote:The John Day Memorial Citizen’s Cross Country Ski Race places an emphasis on “Citizen’s”. Former Olympic team skiers have participated in past races and we expect very competitive skiers. However, no race experience is needed and the wide course and friendly competition has room for all levels of skiers.

The race course is machine groomed for skating and track set for classic skiing. The course is relatively flat with gentle rolling terrain and views if a racer chooses to look up. All race events are held on the same course, with longer events accomplished with more laps of the 5K loop. The race uses a mass start with classic event skiers just behind the freestyle skiers.

The 5300 foot elevation is high enough for good snow with air still “thick” enough for comfortable breathing at race pace.
